Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh, Barming

A friendly local - and a gluten-free gastro pub!

A traditional pub in Barming, Maidstone, The Duke of Edinburgh has proudly served the locals in this Kent community since the mid-1800s.

It’s long been known for its homely feel and cracking ales, but the pub recently added a new string to its bow - with a 100% gluten-free menu making this a unique dining destination.

Indeed, 2016 saw the pub shortlisted in the Best Pub Restaurant category of the national FreeFrom Eating Out Awards, which recognise excellence among establishments catering for allergic, Coeliac and ‘free from' customers.

For those on a gluten-free diet, The Duke is Maidstone’s must-visit pub, but there’s plenty of other reasons to drop in too.

Recently refurbished with a smart, modern interior, the pub is home to a much-loved pool table, darts and petanque, a great patio garden and several screens showing the latest action on Sky and BT sports.

You’ll find it all just two miles from the town centre, just down the Tonbridge Road from The University College for the Creative Arts, and Maidstone Hospital. A warm, wheat-free welcome awaits…

Have eaten here twice now and the food has been superb on both occasions. Being gluten free it's great to eat 'normal' food - garlic bread, pizza! My non gluten free friends were also impressed.

I was really curious about the gluten free menu, as haven't tried it before. The food was absolutely delicious. The service and atmosphere was great too and I will definitely go again.
